Ava has a pet giraffe (imaginary, of course!). It has been tagging along with us for the past week or so. The giraffe goes for walks with us, rides in the car (one day he had taken his seat belt off and was jumping over the seats), comes home from school with Ava (we have to ask him about his day too!). Such a great imagination!
We've been taking Holly for a walk almost daily since the weather has been unseasonably warm. Ava is enjoying walking in the street. She takes her puppy with us too (a long Mardi Gras bead). Today she and her puppy enjoyed jumping in every puddle we passed and came home with wet feet and pants! Guess we'll have to get some rain boots for wet walks!

This afternoon Ava was in her room for a while playing. She kept coming out to ask me the names of several books. Then she'd go back into her room and "read" the books. I went in to check on her and found her friends all lined up with books in front of them.
She was reading to her "Friends", and told them to say cheese when I took the picture. Of course, she wouldn't get in the picture with them.

Big Steps
We've managed to transition to diaper free naps! Just need to work on dry nights too! One step at a time!
Ava had the sprinkler yesterday and was pretending that it was a gun, shooting the cars that went by the house. No matter how protected we think our kids are, they always seem to learn the things that we wish they didn't know! How in the world she knows about shooting guns, I don't know. I assume she learned it from her friends at school!
Took her to get new shoes today... she was so excited she wouldn't take them off.
Big step... she went into her room, put on her jammies, and told me she was ready to go to bed... without being asked. (I'm sure that won't happen again for a long time!)

Reading
Ava never ceases to amaze me! We read books before putting her into bed every night. She decided that she wanted to read to me tonight. So, she picked three Dora books that we read pretty frequently and read them to me. It is amazing to me that she gets some of the words absolutely perfectly correct when she is "reading". I know she recognizes the pictures and apparently remembers the words, it is just amazing to me that these books hadn't been read in a few weeks, but she still can recite the words with really good accuracy. Not sure if this is normal for a 3 year old, but I think she's a genious!

LOST! One little blankie!
Little blankie has conveniently disappeared and it's bed time. Fortunately, one tired baby hasn't noticed that it's missing. Have searched all over the house, but wonderful little blankie is missing! UUGH! Note to self: buy two little blankies- that way there is a back up in case of disappearing blankie.

Orange Juice
After cleaning her babies with a hospital glove that Hudson snuck home from the hospital, Ava decided she wanted to eat an orange. She somehow figured out that if she squeezed the orange juice comes out, so she asked for a cup. Ava began squeezing the orange into a cup and made orange juice! Not sure if she saw someone do this, or figured it out herself. (I think she's a little genious! but she may have learned it somewhere.) She never ceases to amaze me!
